4th-7th December, 2008

Thurs. at 9pm, Fri. at 8pm, Sat. at 3pm & 8pm, Sun. at 3pm

Solas Nua, the only contemporary Irish arts organization in the United States, is proud to present the Capital Irish Film Festival in conjunction with the Irish Film Institute, Culture Ireland and Reel Ireland, and with generous support from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts.  Since 2005 Solas Nua has presented a wide spectrum of the Irish cultural landscape through our critically acclaimed theatre seasons, our literary events (including our annual Irish Book Day), and our film festivals which include Amharc Eile: Women directors in Irish Cinema at the E Street Cinema and Draíocht: Magic at Play in Contemporary Irish Film at the Warehouse Arts Complex.

The selection for this year’s film festival features a diverse range of Irish directors working in cinema today. Audiences can experience a wealth of genres and styles ranging from features and documentaries to animation, shorts and Irish language entries.  Filmmaking in Ireland has seen substantial growth in the last two decades with significant crossover between Irish theatre and Irish cinema.  With several American premieres included in this year’s lineup, the Capital Irish Film Festival gives D.C. audiences an opportunity to engage with a wealth of new talent working in the Irish film industry today.

The Festival Wrap Party - Sunday December 7th, 4:00-6:00pm in the Goethe Gallery.

Open to all and free to all thanks to the Irish Dairy Council & James Hoban's Irish Restaurant & Bar.
