Amharc
Eile is a film festival celebrating the role of women behind the camera
in Irish cinema. Drawing on a range of work from feature lengths, documentaries,
Irish language contributions and shorts to animation this festival, curated
by Solas Nua, brings together a unique collection of directors that establishes
a rare overview of women's involvement in Irish cinema for the last 15
years. Focused primarily on individual stories, these films uncover themes
both specific to Ireland and universal, but all of them concerned with
issues of femininity, female identity and the place of woman in her larger
world. Ms. Christine Fahey, wife of the Irish Ambassador to the USA is
the honorary chair of the festival. Amharc Eile is supported by a grant from Culture Ireland.
Solas Nua thanks the Irish Film Institute for their efforts in making this event possible.
