the beckett centenary festival events included: the international tour of the gate theatre's production of waiting for godot at the kennedy center for the performing arts; free screenings of beckett films; the international exhibition of samuel beckett - a centenary celebration commissioned by the cultural division of ireland’s department of foreign affairs; presentations of selected beckett radio plays with a free listening party; a symposium at the university of maryland featuring prominent beckett scholars and an evening of theater; a book club discussion of selected beckett novels; and resident productions of selected shorter works coupled with readings of prose and poetry by the producing partners of the beckett centenary festival.
