Post names Solas Nua's production
"Pick
of the Fringe"
"As
daringly theatrical as anything I've seen at Fringe -- and impressively
assured."
"It's a bold play, and a bolder choice to stage it in a pool"
"See it if: You appreciate risk, atmospherics, language,
and the feeling of privilege that comes from sitting on the pool deck
with a ticket while dog-walking Georgetowners clutch their wineglasses
on the park sward, watching curiously from outside the fence.
Skip it if: You're dull enough to think theater belongs
only on a stage."

Magic at Play in Contemporary Irish Film
Saturday
March 11th
Documentaries

Solas Nua is proud to present a sampling of contemporary Irish cinema
rarely if ever previously seen in the United States.
Druids, faeries, banshees, na Ridiri Rua, Fionn and the Fianna - Ireland
has a past steeped in magic and mythology. This festival looks at how
traditional beliefs in magic still permeate contemporary Irish society,
and examines the ways in which Irish film-makers use magic as a tool in
the creative process. Click

Valentine Social
Solas
Nua, the only contemporary Irish arts organization in the USA, hosted
a social event at Baci Vini. An Italian establishment seemed appropriate
for February given Valentine’s Day. Although, St. Valentine’s
is buried on Whitefriar Street in Dublin (well, some of his remains and
a vile of blood) so lets raise a glass to the Saint himself.

Misterman by Enda Walsh
The Washington Post: “In the hands of a performer
as adroit as Brick, Walsh's succinct, compelling story really doesn't
need much embellishment. Still, for such a spare production, 'Misterman'
does have some neat tricks.” In Misterman we enter the head of Thomas
Magill, an unstable man in his mid- thirties, whose confused mission is
to bring God to his
fellow townsfolk of Inishfree.
