"If writers paint pictures with words, then Irish playwright Enda Walsh is a graphic novelist — and in this U.S. premiere staged by the contemporary Irish theater company Solas Nua, Mr. Walsh's stark, black-and-white imagery wells in your mind like blood blisters."
The Washington Times – Jayne Blanchar

"Walsh's writing blends comedy and tragedy into an emotionally powerful package."
Variety Magazine – Paul Harris

"…impeccably staged … Davenport and Debelack give nuanced, heartrending and, at times, very funny performances… an auspicious start to their second season. It is groups like this that make being a fan of live theater in the Washington area such a pleasure."
DC Examiner – Doug Krentzlin

"So seductive are those rhythms, and so quietly domestic—so gentle and
rueful and even funny—is the scene Debelack and Davenport create ….
And Kathleen Akerley's exquisitely tender production orchestrates it all so delicately…"
Washington City Paper – Trey Graham

"Kathleen Akerley creates a visually beautiful production."
"Marianne Meadows's lighting is splendid."
*The Washington Post – Nelson Pressley
*spoiler alert

"If you liked Mr. Walsh's Disco Pigs, Misterman or Bedbound, savor a good horror story,
or find language and its poetic nature stimulating — you've found your play."
Curtainup.com – Rich See

"This is a play of brilliant theatrical musings that entertains our senses and brings
far more shivers than DC's recent wintry nights."
DC Theatre Reviews - Ronnie Ruff

The last two people left in the world. They have to speak to stay alive. Who will have the last word?

Two houses, perched on top of mountains, stare at each other across a deep valley. A man and a woman talk about the small things – parquet floor zigzagging down corridors, the memory of mother’s breasts, brown sauce and soggy chips. But these minutiae disguise a bigger story of brutality and unfaltering loyalty which emerges horrifically through the chit-chat.

Sponsored by The Mead Theatre Lab Program.
