SOLAS NUA'S reading of NOT BECKETT
When: Monday, March 9, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Klein Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre Company (450 7th St NW, Washington, DC 20004)
As an international rolling world premier, Not Beckett presents five new short plays, presented as staged readings in conversation with Irish writer Samuel Beckett’s plays and biographies.Together, the plays create a new canon, inspired by Beckett’s theatrical inventiveness, and challenge audiences to expand their idea of what Irishness looks and sounds like.
These plays are written by femme-identifying and non-binary playwrights with Irish ancestry from across the globe. This presentation of Not Beckett is written by Jennifer Barclay, Olwen Fouéré, FELISPEAKS, Hannah Khalil, and Nicola McCartney.
Led by Chicago-bred playwright and Irish citizen Jennifer Barclay (MacDowell Fellow; National New Play Network Associate Artist, currently based in D.C.), London-based Irish-Palestinian playwright Hannah Khalil (playwright in residence at the Globe; Creative Fellow at the Samuel Beckett Research Centre), and London-based Creative Producer Alison Holder.
Tickets are free, with reservation.
