The Sound of Pride: A Playlist Featuring Queer Irish Musicians

Pride is about celebrating people, stories, and the freedom to be ourselves.

It's also about connection. And few things bring people together quite like music.

To celebrate Pride, Solas Nua is trying something new: we're sharing a Spotify playlist of queer Irish artists whose creativity, talent, and unique voices help shape Ireland's cultural landscape. Their music reminds us that when people feel seen, heard, and accepted, communities become stronger, richer, and more vibrant.

Ireland's journey toward inclusion has been marked by powerful moments of progress, such as becoming the first country in the world to approve marriage equality by popular vote in 2015. That spirit of inclusion remains at the heart of Pride today. While governments and organizations play an important role in creating policies that welcome and support everyone, real change also happens through the stories we tell, the voices we amplify, and the communities we build together. We hope this playlist inspires celebration, reflection, and a sense of belonging for all.

Two artists on the playlist have perviously engaged with Solas Nua. Singer-songwriter Sorcha Richardson, of Kerry, captivated the audience at our 20th Anniversary Fundraiser last September (pictured), and Adam Matthews, one half of the Dublin-based electropop and indie-rock duo Phoeno, was the stage manager for Panti Bliss: If These Wigs Could Talk, co-presented with Studio Theatre in 2024.

Happy Pride – and enjoy these tunes!
