Winner of the 2025 the Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award for Poetry.

Join award-winning Irish poet Luke Morgan on an odyssey through lineage, legacy and language, journeying from lands as far as Kathmandu to the poet’s homeplace of Oughterard, County Galway. Blood Atlas is an exploration not only of the world we inhabit, but the universe inside the human body.

Luke Morgan has published two collections of poetry with Arlen House - Honest Walls (2016) and Beast (2022). He was writer-in-residence in Merlin College, Galway for the #WeAreThePoets initiative as part of Galway 2020. He has completed residencies in many secondary schools around the West of Ireland, from Galway to Roscommon to Scarriff, Co. Clare. He ran a workshop for young people at the 2022 Strokestown International Poetry Festival.

Luke also works as a professional filmmaker. His company Morgan Creative, founded with his brother Jake, have had films screened at festivals all over the world – from South Africa and Cannes, the USA to Ireland’s own Galway Film Fleadh, Dublin Film Festival, Belfast Film Festival, Cork Film Festival and Kerry Film Festival. He was the winner of the 2015 Screenplay Pitching Award at the Galway Film Fleadh and has won awards for both writing and directing.
