Now in its 38th year, the AFI European Union Film Showcase continues its tradition of bringing the best in European cinema to Washington, DC-area audiences. This year’s festival runs from December 3 through 21.

Jen has carried the guilt of a tragic accident since her teens - now, the past catches up, forcing her to find a way forward.

Jen (Natasha O’Keeffe, PEAKY BLINDERS) is a fierce park ranger who oversees a dense, wild patch of forest in southern Ireland, protecting it from encroaching poachers attempting to evade her watchful eye and hunt the woodland creatures inside. When her old boyfriend, Oscar (Aaron McCusker), returns to town, the dreadful memory of a tragic event in their youth begins to crack Jen’s stern, tightly wound persona, forcing her to confront a past that still haunts her. Dutch director Nanouk Leopold’s seventh feature film is an engrossing slow-burn thriller about trauma and redemption that features a riveting performance from O’Keeffe and breathtaking footage of Ireland’s vibrant forests. Official Selection, 2025 Toronto International Film Festival.
